Jane, my very dear friend for nearly 81 years. I was a very young evacuee, Jane's Mother Mrs Milner so kindly took me in, where I was looked after by Nanny Bickerstaff along with Jane and David. I stayed for a short while and moved on to the Lewis's next door because Jane's family needed a safe home. We could not meet up often, but always kept in touch at Christmas and Birthdays, My sister lives in Mevagissey and visits to her were excellent opportunities to meet up with Jane and Martin. On one occasion a couple of my sisters joined me for afternoon visits. Jane and Martin made us very welcome and my sisters loved the dogs. A very sad time losing such a beautiful friend but I will always have the wonderful memories of playing on Harpenden common and reading our books at opposite ends of the garden hammock. Will miss you deeply just not being here. Iris
